Minamijuuji island holds a secret that only a select few know. Below the island are dormant giant humanoid robots known as Cybodies. Four maidens watch over these robots. For years, their seals kept the Cybodies in the alternate dimension called “Zero Time”. The users, known as drivers, of the Cybodies have a mark on their chest or a special mask. Without the mark/mask, the driver cannot pilot a Cybody in Zero Time.

The anime follows the story of Tsunashi Takuto who appears late one night on Minamijuuji Island. He is rescued by Agemaki Wako and Shindo Sugata after washing up on the island’s shore having swam from the mainland. He enrols in Southern Cross School where Wako and Sugata attend.

Problems shatter the peaceful life of Takuto, Wako and Sugata. A secret organization, known as the “Glittering Crux Brigade”, aim to take over the world by breaking the seals on the Cybodies. Those with the mark know of their intentions but have no way of stopping them. Little do any of them know that a lone boy and his Cybody stands in Glittering Crux’s way…It is the Ginga Bishounen and Tauburn!

I enjoyed this anime a lot more than I thought I would. The first inner-episode song baited me in and I was hooked after the first battle. I recommend this for anyone looking for a robot/school anime with some symbolism and WTF moments mixed in. OP/ED, battle music and inner-episode songs are top notch.

It’s a PINCH!
