Review: Magical Nyan Nyan Taruto
The story of this anime revolves around a young girl named Taruto, though she is not a normal girl for she is actually a cat. This anime shows the world of cats in a new light, with each cat looking human to the viewer, however they look like normal cats to their owners. Taruto is a young kitten who is under the care of her owner Iori. Iori has just moved house with his neice and Taruto, a cat he found on the street and took in and raised. On arrival Taruto finds herself excited about her new surroundings, however things are not going to be as fun as she thought when the neighbouring cats come around to visit with the intentions of playing tricks on her. Not long after they arrive however, they soon learn that Taruto is not any ordinary cat, but is a magical cat, though her control of her magic leaves a lot to be desired, they soon begin to link her as possibly being the cat princess of legend, a princess who was supposed to be in posession of amazing power. A great story for children, Taruto mixes in just the right sense of humour and childish innocence which will relate to children of younger ages keeping them entertained. Now available in dubbed as well as subbed, it is even available for children who can't or don't want to read subtitles. The story like with most childrens storys is quite simple and builds in measures to explain things in the simplest terms which is required for many young children. However, this does not mean that the anime does not appeal to adults as well. Taruto is the perfect feel-good story with cute outfits and characters throughout. If I was to say its flaws, I guess it would rest mainly in its ending, but even the ending is acceptable, though I feel a few of us may feel it could be done in another way. It had been a long time since I'd watched Taruto, but the opening song has remained with me all these years (I even have it saved on my phone!), it's a memorable anime which will leave its older viewers full of nostalgia every time they watch it. All in all, I recomend this anime for anyone who has young children and want to get them into anime for the first time. The perfect introductor, but for adult audiences, some people may find it a bit tame and childish. But if you're like me and love to watch childish stuff from time to time, I recomend you watch this anime when ever possible. |
